TECHNOLOGY ASSIGNMENT TOPIC- WEB 1.0

Web 1.0

Web 1.0 was first implementation  of the web and it lasted from 1989 to 2005. It was defined as web of information connections.According to the innovator of World Wide Web,Tim Berners Lee considers the web as "read-only" web.
It provides very little interaction where consumer can exchange the information together but it was not possible to interact with the website. The role of web was very passive in nature.
Web 1.0 was referred as the first generation of World Wide Web which was basically defined as
"It is an information space in which the items of interest referred to as resources are identified by global identifier called as Uniform Resources Identifiers (URIs)".
First generation web was era static pages and content delivery purpose only.
In other words, the early web allowed us to search for information and read it.There was very little in the way of user interaction or content contribution.

Characteristics

Web 1.0 technologies includes core web protocols.HTML, HTTP and URI. The major characteristics of web 1.0 are as follows
1. They have read only content.
2. Establish an online presence and make their information available to anyone at any time.
3. It includes static web pages and use basic Hypertext Markup Language.

Limitation

The major limitations of web 1.0 are follows
1. The web 1.0 pages can only be understood by humans(web readers) they do not have machine compatible content.
2. The web master is solely responsible for updating users and managing the content of website.
3. Lack of dynamic representation i.e, to acquire only static information, no web console were available to performing dynamic events.

TECHNOLOGY ASSIGNMENT TOPIC:- BLOG

 BLOG

blog (a truncation of the expression "weblog") is a discussion or informational website published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries ("posts"). Posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order, so that the most recent post appears first, at the top of the web page. Until 2009, blogs were usually the work of a single individual, occasionally of a small group, and often covered a single subject or topic. In the 2010s, "multi-author blogs" (MABs) have developed, with posts written by large numbers of authors and sometimes professionally edited. MABs from newspapers, other media outlets, universitiesthink tanksadvocacy groups, and similar institutions account for an increasing quantity of blog traffic. The rise of Twitter and other "microblogging" systems helps integrate MABs and single-author blogs into the news media. Blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

 CHARACTERISTICS OF BLOG

1. A Blog Must Always Be Dynamic

A common question about a blog is how it relates to a website – are these two essentially the same, or are there any differences between them? While websites are mainly presentation blogs are always intended to engage. A website is therefore static, as opposed to a blog which must be dynamic.
The information offered by websites is presented on static pages, in a form of an evergreen content that doesn’t require any updates. Blog posts, on the other hand, are like diary entries; they include a Publishing date and meta tags. New entries and regular updates are key for running any kind of blog.

2. Posts Are Displayed in Reverse Order

Unlike with a personal diary written in a notebook, blog entries are displayed in reverse chronological order – the newest posts being on top. The latest ones push previously published ones down the list, until they completely disappear from the landing page. Older posts are usually archived on the following pages, but they can also be organized by the month or year when they were first published.

3. Most Blogs Have the Same Structure

First comes a header with the menu or navigation bar to declutter the page and make a great first impression. It’s followed up by main content area on which blog posts appear either by order of publishing or by relevance. Down below are contact pages, privacy policies and relevant links, neatly arranged in a footer. A sidebar highlights favorite entries and displays social profiles and call-to-actions.
basic blog structure

4. The Blog’s Leading Star Is Its Content

Different blogs publish different types of posts, though a majority of them relies on the power of the written word. Depending on the author’s intention, an article is typically an opinion piece, an instructional guide, or a news post. Monotonous chunks of text are separated with images or videos.
A blog post can also be a picture with little or no text. It’s a common trend in fashion and travel blogs, though it’s also not rare for business-related niches to publish infographics instead of instructional articles. But regardless of the medium, a blog is always defined by the quality of its published content.

 ADVANTAGES OF BLOG

  • A Controlled platform to Express Yourself: The landscape has changed, but there are still countless blogs that serve as a platform for people to voice their ideas, thoughts, and feelings. This is a key advantage of blogging. Whether your passion is business, personal finance, cooking, politics, photography, or marketing, blogging gives you the opportunity to connect and network with like-minded individuals who share the same passions. This likewise applies to business, their business blogs provide a platform for them to communicate the brand values and interests to a broad audience. A blog is a great way to build awareness and garner support.
  • Refine Your Communication Skills: Communications skills are greatly enhanced while blogging – the more you write, the better you become at it. For highly engaged business, it puts you on a learning curve that improves your corporate communications. Most professional bloggers write on a regular basis and therefore analyze and proofread their writing constantly. Keeping in touch with a broad range of trends, topic areas, and industry news. Feedback from your audience also helps improve your communication as you build well-balanced views on your topics of interest.
  • Build Your Professional Network: One of the immediate advantages of blogging is that business and individuals involved in blogging can reap maximum advantages from building a useful professional community around it. Whether you are a solopreneur or blogging to market your business, building relationships with subscribers, contributors, and partner media properties will facilitate your blog’s growth. As you expand your online presence, connect with potential customers, promote their brand in a positive conversation, and even generate online revenue. Meanwhile, growing your online network has its own side benefits, such as gaining access to valuable software and tools, seminars, workshops, product unveiling, and other events.
  • Become an Authority in Your Industry: A good, well written and thought out blog, full of useful posts and information is a great brand asset. A poorly written blog, rushed together, with low-quality posts full of typos and spelling errors could be doing more harm than good. A blog is an opportunity to showcase your knowledge and expertise. Publishing blog posts that are accurate, timely, relevant, and informative will eventually get the attention of industry insiders and earn you recognition as an authoritative source and thought-leader. Beyond the immediate results, businesses use content marketing to rank their posts in search engines, thereby generating residual leads and revenue.
  • Build an Online Portfolio: For companies and entrepreneurs, gaining online visibility is one of the best ways to grow subscribers, leads and ultimately revenue. This can’t be achieved with a static corporate website. Creating blog content that is valuable, helpful, and/or entertaining is an effective way to grow your website’s authority, online rankings, and traffic. Blogging is also a great way for aspiring authors and freelance writers to build up an online portfolio. By showcasing their writing skills on large platforms with expansive reach, freelancers can grow their exposure and sign new clients.

DISADVANTAGES OF BLOG

  • Time Consuming: Time is a limited resource and is especially scarce for small business owners. You can easily find yourself falling for one of the huge disadvantages of blogging if time management is not properly planned into the scheme of things. Blogging is time-consuming. As a blogger, you do get quicker at blogging the more you do it but that doesn’t necessarily help if you don’t have the time in the first place. For established business, the buy-in of management will be key so this may not be an issue as personnel can be trained and allocated to this assignment.
  • Techie stuff: When starting out, a lot of businesses and individuals struggle with so many technical details. Including which content management platform to run, hosting service plans, web development designs, and the ongoing technical competence to manage contingencies. To start blogging on your own site, you can use platforms that allow blogging e.g. WordPress. but if your site doesn’t currently support blogging don’t put it off. There are plenty of places that you can blog offsite. There are so many free blogging sites available now, you can use WordPress.com, Blogger, Medium, Tumblr, Square Space. You can even blog using LinkedIn posts or Facebook notes.
  • The danger of inconsistency: A dead blog or a poorly managed blog is worse than no blog at all. If you are going to blog on your own site or even one of the free blogging platforms it is important you maintain decent blogging practices – purposeful content and a regular posting schedule. At the very minimum, you should be blogging once a month and preferably more frequently than that. If you don’t think you’ll be able to keep to a consistent schedule use LinkedIn posts or Facebook notes instead of your own site. It’s less noticeable when you are infrequent on those platforms.

Blogging is more about building a strong and loyal community around your business. Your customers will get to know and trust you through your content. Understanding the advantages an disadvantages of blogging means you engage them a whole lot more.

TECHNOLOGY ASSIGNMENT TOPIC:- CHAT

  CHAT

Chat refers to the process of communicating, interacting and or exchanging messages over the Internet. It involves two or more individuals that communicate through a chat-enabled service or software.
Chat is also known as chatting, online chat or Internet chat.Chat may be delivered through text, verbal, audio, visual or audio-visual (A/V) communication via the Internet. If conducted through a desktop, chat requires software that supports Internet Relay Chat (IRC) or an instant messenger application, where a central server manages chat communication between different end user clients. There are also online chat M H  Services that require users to sign up with a valid email address. After signing up, a user may join a group chat room or send a private message to another individual. Online chat services have purpose-built chat interfaces that manage the entire communication processes.

CHARACTERISTICS OF CHAT

Compatibility across browsers. The CHAT tool will work in Firefox and Internet Explorer.
CHAT history. Your CHAT log will be stored as an activity on your service request.
Access remote computers. This new tool allows our engineers to remotely access multiple platforms so they are able to work seamlessly in a mixed environment. No matter what you are running, with your permission, we can access it. We will also be able to use both attended and unattended remote computer access. Our remote desktop software works through corporate firewalls and, in most instances, with no pre-installed client software.
Multiple language support. You will be able to CHAT with your support engineer in English, German, French, Italian, or Spanish.
Diagnose remote computers. With this tool, our engineers will be able to see system info at a glance at the beginning of your remote support session. They can gather a complete snapshot of the remote computer's system information to speed time to diagnosis and issue resolution.
Troubleshoot with Remote Computer Control Application-specific remote view and remote control. You will be able to grant our technicians the right to view or remote control your entire computer or only selected programs. During a view-only session, support engineers can guide you with a virtual pointer on your screen. This facilitates communication between you and our engineer, enabling the engineer to support you more effectively without taking remote control.
Reboot the remote computer & reconnect automatically. When the remote desktop is a Windows system, the end-user does not need to be present to re-initiate the session or log you back in. When the remote desktop is a Linux or Mac system, CHAT will reconnect the remote support session once the remote client logs on again.
Presentation mode. Support engineers can aid in training by using Presentation Mode. Simply select which applications to present and allow an attendee to have remote control of your computer. Presentations can be given for up to 15 attendees
Reverse screen sharing. During a session, a support engineer can show his or her screen to you. This screen sharing "flip" reverses the remote desktop connection to enable the you to view/control the support engineer's screen for training purposes.
Full-featured CHAT. CHAT are tied to specific support sessions and appear in the session-specific tab. CHAT are recorded for future reference. You can CHAT with support engineers even before beginning a remote support session.
Command line interface. We can offer remote support by gaining remote access to your command prompt. Command shells are recorded in Flash (.flv) format for later review from the reports page.
File transfer / File store. Through this tool, our engineers can request remote access to your file system to send, receive, open, or edit remote files using a few simple controls. If connectivity is lost during the transfer of files, the transfer can be resumed upon reconnecting to the session.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF CHAT

Affordable   Making long distance phone calls regularly could drain your pockets. Chatting over the internet is practically free and does not burden you financially. Well, many of the chatting apps also have an internet calling facility. This means that you can talk and have a video call too – very affordably.

Multitasking  While you are chatting with your friends or family, you can perform a number of other tasks too. You can reply to emails for instance, or finish typing a document or talk to someone in the room. If you do not have too much time for calling, it’s one of the best options. Well, the disadvantage about this kind of multitasking is that your attention is divided among several things. So, for exclusive, crucial conversations where attention is expected, phone calls are still the preferred medium.

management Chatting on the internet is – let’s face it time consuming. So, especially if you are too caught up in the conversation, you might lose track of time. You can end up talking for longer than you wanted to and other tasks get negatively impacted.

Understand the communication barriers Hearing the ‘tone’ of voice is difficult on a chat app. There is a possibility of misinterpretation in some cases. Moreover, your voice cannot be heard, face cannot be seen and meaning could be twisted as per the mindset of the person on the other end of the chat. Carefully wording your sentences is the only way out!

Think about the dangers  Over the internet, you really never know who is on the other end – especially if you are talking to someone you do not already know. There is no way of verifying the identity of the person and you have to take his word for it. Chat apps could be misused in many ways – so it’s always a good idea to be judicious about the way you use them – especially if you do not personally know the person on the other end.Chat apps have brought the world closer – even closer than what social media or even the internet could do! They are quick, easy to use and provide users with a great way to stay connected with their near and dear ones!

TECHNOLOGY ASSIGNMENT TOPIC:- E-MAIL

 E-MAIL

Electronic mail (email or e-mail) is a method of exchanging messages ("mail") between people using electronic devices. Invented by Ray Tomlinson, email first entered limited use in the 1960s and by the mid-1970s had taken the form now recognized as email. Email operates across computer networks, which today is primarily the Internet. Some early email systems required the author and the recipient to both be online at the same time, in common with instant messaging. Today's email systems are based on a store-and-forward model. Email servers accept, forward, deliver, and store messages. Neither the users nor their computers are required to be online simultaneously; they need to connect only briefly, typically to a mail server or a web mail interface, for as long as it takes to send or receive messages.

The most important part of any email marketing campaign is the subject line of each email. That subject line will determine whether or not the email will ever be opened; if your subject line can’t convince the majority of receivers to open your email, then what’s the point of coming up with great content?

  CHARACTERISTICS OF E-MAIL

  1. Size – The subject line should be neither too long nor too short. It’s hard to know exactly how long it should be, however, because different email programs cut it off at different lengths. Mail Chimp, a program that helps manage email campaigns, recommends about 50 characters. In order to figure out the optimal length, the best thing to do is test out different ones.
  2. Spamming – Many email programs know to look for the word “free” and send it right to the spam folder. Similarly, words like “help,” “percent off,” and “reminder,” will get past the spam filter, but come across as spam to the reader. Avoid using caps lock, exclamation points, and cheesy promotional phrases for the same reasons.
  3. Target – Generally, email recipients no longer fall for their name in the subject line. They understand that it’s not actually personalized – just a program. Instead, use their specific location. This tends to get a better open rate.
  4. Timing – Instilling a sense of urgency does tend to generate more opens.
  5. Frequency – Sending emails too often can absolutely turn your customers off. LinkedIn is notorious for this. Make sure you aren’t annoying your audience!
  6. Transparency – Tell the reader upfront the point of the message. Be clear and direct.
  7. Leave them wanting more – Give the reader a reason to open up the email. If all of the information is in the subject line, they won’t need to read the contents inside. A good example of this is “Your Account Info” or “Monthly Stats.” It’s direct and clear, but still leaves the bulk of the information inside of the email.
  8. Entice! – Writing email subject lines is a lot like writing headlines for articles. Some of the same rules apply: list posts and asking questions of the reader tend to do very well. Use strong and exciting buzzwords. Mentioning news or trending topics is also a good idea.
It’s small and simple, but the subject line can make or break your email marketing campaign. Each one should be written with the utmost care. Test out different strategies and see what works best for your email campaign. Let us know about your findings in the comments.

ADVANTAGES OF E-MAIL

Email is just one of the types of electronic communication available to us.
In a work place, communication is extremely important. Employees are now luckily able to make use of the many advantages of email.
  1. It is very easy to communicate effectively with anybody within the office or anywhere in the world regardless of where they are situated.
  2. Another advantage of having business email communication at work is that you can respond to clients quickly and easily. This means that you no longer need to spend hours on the phone, trying to get through and leaving messages with receptionists.
  3. Messages can be sent quickly, in an instant.
  4. The cost of sending an email is very low, unlike postage and other methods of communication.
  5. It is easy to use, simply type the name of the recipient, a subject line and your message and click the send button.
  6. You can copy others on correspondence. You can even blind copy someone (BCC) if you don't want the recipient of the email to know that you are sending it to another person. A large number of people can be copied and communicated with at once.
  7. You can send attachments, such as graphs, files and spreadsheets.
  8. You can book appointments in other people's diaries. They can then accept or decline the appointment.
  9. Email saves time. No need to spend valuable time going to someone else's office.
  10. Emails can be responded to in your own time, when it is convenient for you. It is not invasive like a visitor or phone call which requires immediate attention.
  11. It speeds up the workflow process, documents can be sent for comment, corrections can be made quickly.
  12. Emailing saves paper and printing costs.

DISADVANTAGES OF E-MAIL

Although there are a variety of advantages and disadvantages of email, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages by far.
Unfortunately the good always comes with the bad. Some of the disadvantages of email may be that your staff spends too much time on personal messages as opposed to work related stuff. This is the fundamental disadvantage to allowing employees email access.
However if a positive and trusting relationship is able to be maintained, between management and staff, then this could contribute to a more productive working environment, where employees can enjoy the many advantages of using email.
  1. Spam emails can be sent which can clutter your inbox.
  2. Email hoaxes.
  3. Viruses can be sent by email.
  4. Misunderstandings can occur if messages are not constructed properly.
  5. Not everyone has internet connectivity.
  6. Confidential information can be easily forwarded and disseminated and if done in error could easily end up in the wrong hands.

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

William Shakespeare (26 April 1564 (baptised) – 23 April 1616)[a] was an English poet, playwright and actor, widely regarded as both the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist.[2][3][4] He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon".[5][b] His extant works, including collaborations, consist of approximately 39 plays,[c] 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and a few other verses, some of uncertain authorship. At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, with whom he had three children: Susanna and twins Hamnet and Judith. Sometime between 1585 and 1592, he began a successful career in London as an actor, writer, and part-owner of a playing company called the Lord Chamberlain's Men, later known as the King's Men. At age 49 (around 1613), he appears to have retired to Stratford, where he died three years later. Few records of Shakespeare's private life survive; this has stimulated considerable speculation about such matters as his physical appearance, his sexuality, his religious beliefs, and whether the works attributed to him were written by others.[8][9][10] Such theories are often criticised for failing to adequately note the fact that few records survive of most commoners of the period.
Shakespeare produced most of his known works between 1589 and 1613.[11][12][d] His early plays were primarily comedies and histories and are regarded as some of the best work ever produced in these genres.
